We've had Ike refugees at our house since last Thursday. David's college
roommate, his wife and their two girls live in the Houston area. Curious on Thursday if they were going to head to dryer ground, we called them to see what their plans were. When Jake said they were still in the talking stages, we offered our place as a safe haven. It didn't take them long to decide to take the opportunity to visit us. I don't think when Erin packed for the weekend, she expected she'd still be here today. Jake had to go back to work yesterday, despite the fact that they still have no power at home. Everyone just thought it'd be best for the girls to stay until they had better living conditions to return to. Jake is going to come back to get them on Saturday. They still might not have power, but his sister does and she lives in the area.
We tried to keep the kids busy with trips to the park. And when it came time last Friday for cousin Tristan's birthday party, we brought them along.
